1. Source - Genealogy of the Meyer Family by Henry Meyer, 1890. 2. Christopher Meyer was the first Meyer of this line to settle in Pennsylvania. There is some dispute to the name Christopher, many believe this Meyer from Germany (Prussia) was named Christopher but the author of the "Genealogy of the Meyer Family", Henry Meyer believes his name was Henry. The reason for this was that among a group of settlers led by Conrad Weiser in 1723 to the Muhlbach (Mill Creek) there was a man by the name of Henry Meyer but no other Meyer was named. 3. Christopher (Henry) Meyer was said to be a fine singer. 4. He and his wife landed in New York and after serving a time to pay the balance of their fare across the ocean, came to Philadelphia. They travele by foot through the country, working a day or two occassionally to defray expenses, they finally arrived, while looking for a place to settle, at the beautiful spring in the forest, which seemed to bee a strong attraction for Mr. Meyer and he said, "Here we will stay." The bundles which they carried were unloaded under a large oak tree, and the husband christened the stream "Muhlbach," after the name of his native home in the country.spouse: Meyer, Mrs. (*1703 - )

The Meyer's were also said to be good musicians. The descendants of Christopher were all fine singers; many of them were instructors in music both vocal and instrumental and have been leaders of choirs in the churches of the neighborhoods in which they resided. 3. 1. Found in 1850 Pennsylvania Census also in the Genealogy of the Meyer Family by Henry Meyer pg. 103-105. 2. Starting here and with ancestry of Samuel Moyer the Moyer surname is spelled as such in the U.S. Census' but there are variants (Moyer, Myer, Meyers, Myers, Mire, Meier, Meir, Mayer). It looks like Samuel's surname was spelled Moyer in the 1850 Pennsylvania census but the Genealogy of the Meyer Family by Henry Meyer spells the surname Meyer.spouse: Buehler, Elizabeth (~1816 - )
